Let’s examine that question.
The first thing to look at when trying to answer the million-dollar question about whether bodybuilders need supplements to gain muscle (with the ever-increasing revenues of the supplement industry I should more accurately call it a “billion-dollar question”) is what do we define as “need”?
The big question is, “do you we really need supplements?”. Basing this on need, you have to consider what your body does and does not require. Let’s take a look at some different scenarios….

Here’s your answer, my friend…. A big, resounding NO!
These companies are simply trying to increase their revenues, so it’s up to you to realize that you do not need supplements to gain muscle mass or become stronger.
If you eat adequate protein, carbohydrates, and fats (preferably from whole foods) and train with full intensity, you will definitely see a big difference in your muscle size and strength.
Supplements to gain muscle are not necessary. ’Nuff said. It is possible to get bigger and stronger without them.
So supplements to gain muscle should be completely avoided by bodybuilders, correct?
Nope.
Let’s examine the second definition.

Here comes the million dollar answer…. For sure!
Even though you don’t need supplements to gain muscle mass and strength, they certainly ARE essential if your goal is to become as big and strong as you possibly can.
